Kathy Sharpe was born in Chicago and raised in Winnetka, Illinois. Her education in art began at the Chicago Art Institute when she was in grammar school. Her grandfather was a costume designer for the Vienna Opera, and her cousin is a well-known cartoonist and an accomplished watercolorist.
Kathy is primarily an oil painter, inspired by nature and still life. She took up watercolor in 1990 when her husband received the Nobel Prize in Economics. During their extensive travels, which included visits to charming boutique shops in Carmel-by-the-Sea, she found the opportunity to take her watercolors wherever they went.
Her work is included in private collections in Europe, Japan, and fifteen U.S. states. It has also been sold by Gumps, Nordstrom, and Nieman Marcus, and has even graced the walls of fine dining establishments. Kathy enjoys a variety of interests, including dog grooming, which reflects her love for animals and nature.

Lisa Bryan began her venture Wildreach in 1993 when she started producing a village guide that artistically captured the unique 'Bohemian' character of Carmel-by-the-Sea. This effort culminated in the book 'Sketches of Carmel' in 1997, which includes a brief history along with paintings, journal pages, postcards, and seven large fold-out maps of downtown Carmel. This original format beautifully illustrates each building in watercolor, including notable spots like the Court Of The Fountains. Following this, she introduced a variety of complex folding map/posters. In 2009, she launched a fresh concept to showcase Carmel-by-the-Sea through the 'Carmel Treasure Map'—a pictorial guide that not only serves as a souvenir but can also be framed, highlighting the area's boutique shops, fine dining, and even local dog grooming services.
